Axar completed their Master's in Clinical Psychology in 2018, along with which they also pursued a training in Expressive Arts Therapy. They have also trained in therapeutic modalities including Energy Freedom Technique (EFT) and Dance-Movement Therapy.
Having practiced as an expressive arts therapist as a part of clinics and NGOs between 2017-2019, they then assumed the role of poetry educator and lead programme coordinator at a Delhi-based non-profit organization that seeks to build access to quality arts education for children from underserved backgrounds, particularly towards the goal of enabling life-skills development.
In their independent practice as a facilitator and expressive arts therapist, they have worked with children between ages 5-12 on using the creative arts as a means for self-discovery, empowerment, and healing. They have also worked as a team leader and editor at a Delhi-based education consultancy for four years, assisting students grade 9-12 in their journey towards overseas higher education.
Currently, they are freelancing as a writer and consultant, and are working on setting up an indie publication.
